Installation & updates

System and setup

The current distribution targets Windows x64. Use the official installer; you do not need to install Python or Git yourself. Keep the VC++ runtime required by local AI selected. KIVI also requires browser sign-in and extension setup.

Storage

Choose a location with sufficient disk space. Local models normally live in data/models beside the selected application installation and are retained through updates. Model storage is separate from the installer size. User configuration, caches and logs normally live in the local application data directory.

Stable updates

The application checks for stable releases and downloads updates in the background. After verification, you can install and restart. Save your work first. If updating fails, read the application message and update log instead of deleting the installation directory.

Close and exit

Closing the main window may hide the application in the system tray while tasks continue. Choose the full exit action in the tray menu to stop the application.

Troubleshooting

If the download source is unreachable, check your network and retry later. The first launch loads the runtime. If no window appears for an extended period, check the tray and startup logs.
